Cowtown 2016 10k - Check Point

7th consecutive year running this same 10k, including the virtual race run on 2015 due to inclement weather. Two reference times: 41:09 and 47:01. PR and backward PR. First one to try to get closer to and second one hopefully not to break.

Arriving early was a plus, however I had to rush a little bit with warming up and deal with crossing to my corral that was closed and protected by guards. I got to cross and place myself around a "cruising" crew.

Race started, cruising crew was pulling me. 2012 I was passing runners, this year some runners were passing me, but I had 6 miles to go. I knew the course, which for any reason felt little bit hillier. 1, 2, 3 long miles and second part of the race to try to press the gas. "Run happy, relax, enjoy," is it possible? Still two miles more, and it came to my mind how tired I had gotten in 2013 on that spot. I have been studying about the heart in A&P II class. I know the heart doesn't get tired and it can't over beat, however resulting acids need to perform some chemistry to get cleared.

Last mile, feeling pretty acidic. I could still see a running friend in front. She was getting closer. I just wanted to cross the finish line. I was trying to relax, but finish line magnet was pulling me. I got to pass running friend last couple seconds. It wasn't really intentional but it happened.

46:52, 5th 40-44 Ag. First time not getting any AG medal, but a couple prizes:

  • Getting to cross that finish line non-stop,
  • Not being afraid of any finish time and/or pain when running a race.

It takes 2, to Actually Complete 3 Each

Around Valentines. 5k with Nick. Hilly McKinney. It was a pretty tough course running under 2 tunnels x 2 times. Simple goal, just run it! I got to see few running friends, Frisco Running club couple, Fiona Green, Molly & Wyatt, that got to crush the 10k course in 36 minutes.

The best time at the race was to watch Nicholas crossing the finish line. It took him 27:45 min, almost 6 minutes more than PR, but he crossed the finish line and I can tell now that that running slower is not necessarily easier.

It took 2, to actually run 3 miles each and get the second team prize.

5k Teams Finish Position - 2
Team Score (times): 51:40.99
Team - Mom & Son
1) 333 Roxane Wroblewski F-42 3 3 23:55.04 23:55.04
2) 334 Nicholas Wroblewski M-14 8 11 27:45.95 51:40.99

Aramco Half Marathon

One of my favorite races. I ran it in 2012 when I went to watch the Olympic trails. I had no plans to race, but someone had a bib that couldn't use, so I took it and got to run. I ran it again year ago and I signed for this year as well. I really like this race, it is one of the "National Races", a big athletic event with all the city around watching and cheering runners.

Storm during driving to Houston day before, however bad weather-happy face. Weather is the same for every body. Expo was short but fun. I got to find my name on the runners board, got a picture with supposedly Kenyans and got a nice Sketchers hat.

Race morning. Together with coach, we arrived the Convention Center, dropped gear and jumped to respective corrals. I know without warming up too much, my body is running at 9', so I needed to place myself in a safe sport not to be ran over faster runners. Miles 1 to 6 until Eugenia's old neighborhood it was going to be a cruising. Then mile 7 as transition and finally 8 to 13 adventure.

This year it took me 1:43:45 to finish, and even 1:16 longer than year ago, at least no Half Marathon backward PR :-)

DRC Frigid 10K - End of Trilogy before Half

5K, 8K and this week 10K before the 21K for the Half Marathon.
Running less than half of a half should not be complicated. Just run, Roxy.

And that is what I did. I got to plug to some runners, manage the way go and push a little bit more on the way back. Enough to get AG medal, enjoy race and met some friends!
